New Food at The Florida State Fair 2019

It’s ALMOST that time of year….The Florida State Fair, one of my favorite activities year after year. I grew up going to fairs with my dad wherever we were living (we moved around a bunch) and they have a special place in my heart. When was going to school at UT I would always drag a friend along with me and force them into loving the fair as well; which wasn’t hard as soon as I got them a funnel cake, fresh squeezed lemonade, and fried Wisconsin cheese.

This year, The Florida State Fair is in Tampa from February 7th - February 18th and in addition to the classic and crazy (fried butter!) fair food we know and love, they have a few additions to this year’s line-up!

I had a sneak peak of the new items at the State Fair and am sharing the ones I am most looking forward to here. If you go, make sure to take photos and tag me on Instagram so I can share on my story! The hardest part is going to be deciding what to eat first.

Giant Mozzarella Cheese Stick

from Angela’s Pizza

A 1/4 lb of mozzarella cheese (OMG!!) on a stick, deep fried and served with your choice of ranch dressing or marinara sauce. This is absolutely insane - it reminds me of the fried mac n’ cheese on a stick I had at Bonnaroo and trust me, you’ll want to try it!

Red Beans & Rice Funnel Cake

from The Best Around

Savory funnel cake batter, mixed with red beans and rice before being deep fried and topped with smoke sausage, onions, peppers, and beans! With my love of classic Southern food, this one really intrigues me :)

from The Happy Dough

High quality cookie dough made with no preservatives and safe to eat raw! Classic Chocolate Chip and Sparkly Sugar Cookie will be available for those who don’t want it cooked. If you are in the mood for fried cookie dough (ooey, gooey, yumness!) then you can choose from Chocolate Chip, Birthday Cake, or Peanut Butter.

Rainbow Grilled Cheese

from The Giddy Piggy

A blend of mozzarella, gouda, and provolone colored and melted together to make this beauty. I don’t care if this isn’t the best grilled cheese of my life, but it will definitely be the prettiest. They are also offering a Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese, a Taco Grilled Cheese, and a few other fun combos!
